What is a Steam ID?

Every Steam account has a unique numerical identifier known as a Steam ID. It acts like a permanent fingerprint for your account, allowing systems to identify you across games, servers, and trading platforms. Unlike your profile name which can be changed at any time, your Steam ID is permanent and cannot be modified.

How to Find Your Steam ID

Locating your Steam ID is simple. You can use our lookup tool above by pasting your profile link, or you can find it manually using one of these methods:

Method 1: Using this Tool

  • Enter Input: Paste your Steam profile URL, username, or any ID format into the search box above.
  • Get Results: Click search to instantly see your SteamID64, SteamID3, Hex ID, and account status.

Method 2: Via Steam Client

To reveal the URL bar in your Steam client:

  • Open Steam and go to Settings > Interface.
  • Check the box for "Display web address bars when available".
  • Go to your profile page. You will now see your profile URL in green near the top.
  • If you don't have a custom URL set, the number at the end of the link is your SteamID64.

Method 3: Via Web Browser

  • Log in to your account on the Steam website.
  • Click your avatar in the top right to go to your profile.
  • Look at the address bar in your browser.
  • The long number at the end of the URL (starting with 7656...) is your SteamID64.

Steam ID Formats Explained

Steam uses several formats to represent your account ID. They all point to the same account but are used by different systems and games.

SteamID64 (Community ID)

A 17-digit number (e.g., 76561198000000000). This is the standard format used for web-based services, trading sites, and looking up community profiles.

SteamID (Legacy)

The classic format (e.g., STEAM_0:0:12345). This was the original format used by Valve and is still common in older games and server admin tools.

SteamID3

A newer bracketed format (e.g., [U:1:12345]). This format is used internally by the Steam client and modern Valve titles like CS2 and Dota 2.

Custom URL

A vanity URL you can set for your profile (e.g., steamcommunity.com/id/yourname). While easier to remember, it can be changed, so it's not reliable for permanent identification.

What is a Steam Hex ID?

A Steam Hex ID is simply your SteamID64 converted into hexadecimal notation. It is frequently required for server configuration files, whitelisting scripts, and certain modding tools. Our tool automatically calculates this value for you from any other ID format.
