How many people play Rust?
Rust remains one of the most played survival games on Steam, with player counts that spike hard around monthly forced wipes. The numbers on this page are pulled directly from the official Steam API and show how many players are in the game at any given moment.
We sample the live player count every few minutes and store every data point, which lets us chart daily rhythms, wipe-day spikes, and long-term population shifts over months.
How to read these charts
The population history chart shows the typical daily cycle, plus the characteristic spikes on the first Thursday of the month when servers wipe. The popularity panel shows which days of the week attract the most players on average, and the monthly table tracks how the player base grows or shrinks over time.
