Whether you're a seasoned player or new to CS2, these updates will surely spark your interest and ignite discussions about the future of this iconic map.

First Look: Cache for CS2

On February 16th, 2024, FMPONE unveiled the first images of the new version of Cache he is developing for CS2. This new map version utilizes CS2's new map editing tool to its full potential, with incredible detail included in this work-in-progress version of middle, which would have been impossible to achieve in CSGO.

Second Look: Middle & Highway

On May 4th, 2024, the community received a look at middle, with additional work within the garage that was not present in the first look we received. We also got our first look at the new version of the highway.

Third Look: A Site

FMPONE shared the first images of CS2 Cache's A site on May 27th, 2024, which he stated is a rough work in progress, with many details and models still missing. He also stated that he wants the site to be "larger than before" so that it does not feel as cramped, which we get a slight view of with the area behind the quad being slightly wider.

Fourth Look: Updated Middle

FMPONE shared on May 27th, 2024, a very updated version of CS2 Cache's middle, with many noticeable changes from the first image he shared with the CS community. Most notably, these new pictures show many more areas of the map, and the center statue on the roof has now been reduced to rubble.

Fifth Look: Lighting and Skybox Experiment

On May 31st, 2024, FMPONE shared that he was experimenting with the skybox image and the lighting on the map. This new skybox gives the map a much more blue hue to the lighting than the orange light that was present before.

Conclusion

With FMPONE aiming for a 2025 release date for CS2's version of Cache, he has dedicated a long time to perfecting the detail and gameplay of this beloved Counter-Strike map. With the recent release of his other map, Thera, officially into CS2, it seems he has to devote some time to fixing bugs on that map before he can return to grinding on CS2's Cache. The CS community is awaiting new screenshots of Cache daily from FMPONE.
