When using an iOS device, it's important to be aware that by default, your Steam application and backup codes are backed up to your iCloud account. This means that ensuring your safety is crucial. If hackers gain access to your iCloud account, they can duplicate any backed-up cloud data, including automatic backups of the Steam app and its components like the Steam Mobile Authenticator. With the backup of the Steam app and Steam Mobile Authenticator in their possession, these hackers can send your items to themselves.

To prevent yourself from falling victim to such scams, simply follow these steps to disable automatic iCloud backups for the Steam application:

  1. Open the "Settings" app on your iOS device.
  2. Tap on your profile, located at the top of the settings menu.
  3. Select "iCloud."
  4. Choose "Manage Storage."
  5. Tap on "Backups."
  6. Locate and select the name of the device on which you have the Steam app installed.
  7. Click on "Show All Apps."
  8. Scroll down until you find "Steam."
  9. Toggle the slider to turn off backups for the Steam app.
  10. Confirm your decision by selecting "Turn Off & Delete."

By following these steps and disabling automatic iCloud backups for the Steam application, you can significantly reduce the risk of scammers gaining unauthorized access to your account and items.
