Vitality beat FURIA 3-1 on February 8 to win IEM Kraków 2026, breaking Astralis' all-time Big Event trophy record in the process. ZywOo finished with a 1.59 HLTV rating, the highest-rated Big Event performance of his career. Peak viewership hit 1,387,966 concurrent viewers during the grand final, per Esports Charts, making it the most-watched non-Major in Counter-Strike history.

The scoreline reads clean. The tournament was not.

FURIA nearly got eliminated in the group stage, survived overtime against The MongolZ, then beat NaVi and Spirit back-to-back to reach the final. They took map one off Vitality and briefly made a repeat of their IEM Chengdu sweep look possible. Then Vitality won 13-2 on Nuke and the series was effectively over.

The Venue Delivered

Moving from Spodek to the 15,000-seat TAURON Arena in Kraków was a risk. The numbers said it paid off: 40.2 million hours watched across 86 hours of broadcast, placing IEM Kraków 2026 eighth all-time across every CS event ever held, Majors included, according to Esports Charts.

TAURON Arena Kraków

ropz put the venue in context after the final: "This one means so much. This arena had the first event I watched in CS, PGL Major Krakow, and that's why I got so much passion for the game."

How FURIA Got There

They lost their opening match to FUT Esports. That sent them into the lower half of their GSL group for an elimination match against The MongolZ, where they dropped map one, fell behind 9-12 on Inferno, pulled it back through overtime, and closed on Nuke.

From there: beat NaVi 2-1, swept Aurora 2-0, then beat Spirit in three maps in what was arguably the best series of the tournament. The semifinal went to overtime on Mirage, with molodoy posting a three-kill AWP round on Ramp as the turning point. He said afterward: "The key moment was after my three kills on Ramp with an AWP. My confidence went up and up." FURIA took Nuke 17-4 on the offensive half to close the series.

Going from a group stage near-exit to beating Spirit in knockout CS is the kind of run that only makes sense if you already know what FalleN's teams do when elimination pressure hits.

The Grand Final

Mirage: FURIA 13-11 FURIA were down 3-9 at the half. YEKINDAR flipped his performance completely on CT side with 15 kills and 124.8 ADR, and a 1v2 from molodoy at 10-11 closed it out. Suddenly a FURIA sweep felt real.

Inferno: Vitality 13-8 ZywOo posted a 2.47 T-side rating in the first half with five multikills. FURIA's economy never recovered. Straightforward Vitality map.

Nuke: Vitality 13-2 FURIA had won eight straight Nuke maps coming in. Vitality led 10-2 at the half and finished 13-2. mezii and ropz denied FURIA clean entry on ramp with the kind of utility timing that comes from very specific preparation. The series was done here, psychologically if not officially.

Overpass: Vitality 13-10 FURIA built a 9-6 lead in the second half and pushed hard. ZywOo posted four AWP kills on bombsite A defense in round 23 to close it. Vitality win, 3-1.

ZywOo's Numbers

His 1.59 overall rating is his career-best at a Big Event, confirmed by HLTV. The full picture across the tournament:

  • 1.26 kills per round
  • +6.17% round swing
  • 29.3% of rounds with a multikill
  • Top 5% across every tracked metric
  • Grand final: 90-41 K/D, 101 ADR, 27 multikills

The round swing is the number that matters most. +6.17% means his individual actions changed the outcome of more than six in every hundred rounds, in a field where every analyst was specifically preparing to stop him.

He described it himself after the final: "I could definitely feel that. The way I was playing, the way I was hyping, the way I was smiling. Everything was good on my side. I can say it was my best performance that I've ever played in a tournament."

This was his 29th MVP medal and first of 2026. He also dueled molodoy 19-5 in the AWP head-to-head, which means something given molodoy was the reason FURIA got to the final in the first place.

Other Standouts

flameZ (EVP): 1.23 overall rating, 83% of maps rated above 1.00. His 80 ADR across the tournament is why Vitality can funnel everything through ZywOo and still punish teams that overcorrect.

donk (EVP): 1.38 rating despite Spirit finishing third. His comment on ZywOo's award: "Do I feel robbed? Not at all, ZywOo's number 1 spot was really well-deserved."

KSCERATO: 1.22 rating heading into the final weekend, the best individual run of any FURIA player at the event.

The Record Nobody Mentioned Enough

FalleN had won eight consecutive Big Event BO5 matches before this final. His last Big Event BO5 loss was at IEM Winter against fnatic in early 2016. Vitality ended that streak on February 8, confirmed by HLTV. That detail got buried under the bigger records and probably shouldn't have.

Prize Money and What the Trophy Count Actually Means

Place

Team

Prize

1st

Vitality

$400,000

2nd

FURIA

$180,000

3rd

Team Spirit

$100,000

4th

MOUZ

5-6th

The prize money matters less than the trophy. HLTV confirmed on February 9 that this win moved Vitality past Astralis' standing Big Event record. apEX and ropz also became the highest-earning players in CS2 history by career prize money after the final. Two records in one night.

What Comes Next

ESL Pro League Season 23 finals are in March. The PGL Major follows later in the year.

For Vitality, the question is whether their preparation holds across a month-long format rather than a two-week sprint. For FURIA, it's whether they can carry knockout-round form into the early stages of a tournament instead of surviving the group stage through overtime. For everyone else, the gap to Vitality is real and closing it will take more than a hot week.
