All CS2 Ranks, Premier Mode, and CS Ratings!

With the release of CS2 inching ever closer... as long as Valve stays true to their promised Summer 2023 release window, they have begun to ship substantial changes to the CS2 beta, which will help distance the game slightly from CSGO. This article will focus on the new Max Round 12 format for competitive, Premiere Mode, Ranks Per Map, and CS Rating. One significant change introduced was changing the competitive mode from MR15, or max round 15 per half, to MR12. This means that instead of winning 16 rounds to win a match, a team only has to win 13 rounds.

One significant change introduced was changing the competitive mode from MR15, or max round 15 per half, to MR12. This means that instead of winning 16 rounds to win a match, a team only has to win 13 rounds. This change aims to speed up games without drastically changing the flow of Counter-Strike.

Premier Mode

Premier Mode is Valve's answer to third-party services such as Faceit or ESEA, which overshadowed CSGO's matchmaking regarding the professional scene of playing Counter-Strike. Now, all players worldwide can compete for points (ELO), which is precisely updated after every competitive game you play. No longer are you trying to guess if you are at the high end of LEM or about to derank back down into LE.

Ranks Per Map

The points system does not mean matchmaking ranks such as Silver 1 or Global Elite have disappeared. Now instead of receiving an overall rank on your account, you receive these on a per-map basis. So no longer does only grinding a single map mean that you can flex being a high rank on your friends. This also adds the challenge of obtaining high ranks on all maps and maybe even Global Elite across every map.

CS Rating

The points you obtain in Premier Mode are now reflected on the new CS Rating Leader Board. You can check your global ranking against every CS2 player in the world, or also compare how you rank in your specific region of play. You will be able to compare yourself to your friends and random strangers and see just how amazing or horrible you are at CS2.
