Goodbye CSGO, Hello CS2

It is bittersweet to see CSGO come to a close after its 11-year run filled with so much history, but it is now time to witness how Valve follows up the most popular FPS shooter on the planet with the release of Counter-Strike 2 on September 27th, 2023. This article will dive into all the new things added within the full release of the new game.

Parting Gifts from CS:GO

For players who played CS:GO before the release of CS2, Valve decided to gift players a commemorative Global Offensive Badge etched with the years "2012-2023" on it. Players also received a "Valve, CS:GO" music kit to replace the new CS2 audiotrack with the classic CS:GO one.

Weekly Care Package

There is a new weekly drop system in CS2 called the "Weekly Care Package" system. This system is similar to CSGO's drop system but allows players to choose 2 of 4 potential drops... which means goodbye to useless graffiti cause who in their right mind would choose those... (I'm sure some people will).

General Store and Paris Sticker Sale

The new General Store has all the Valve sold stickers and items conveniently located for players to purchase. Now, no longer do you have to hope for your front page to display 4 random items and have to search for others!

New Inventory Weapon Models

Weapons in your inventory have all new 3D models instead of just PNGs of the skins. The models also display stickers and wear within your inventory, which is pretty neat!

Cases and Tradeups

Everyone's favorite pass time, GAMBLING, is back in Counter-Strike 2, with the ability now to waste away your life savings opening cases, capsules, and completing trade-up contracts (which sadly is still missing the signable contract we saw in CSGO before the panorama update) for a chance to unbox something amazing.

Competitive Mode and Community Servers

Competitive mode, which now features ranks per map, is now available in CS2, and community servers are back within the new game! We are excited to see what sort of servers pop up (I need surf and KZ maps back ASAP) and any new game modes the community may invent on the new engine. We would love to hear your thoughts on Counter-Strike 2's release on our Twitter!
